GIFTED & TALENTED Art Lessons

This course is for the serious young artist (of any age) that is willing to work hard while having a lot of fun in a studio environment.  Students will learn all about media and how to see and draw while learning artists methods.

Is my child Gifted and Talented?  I have found that children that practice art on their own during their free time  are the ones that are visual-spatially gifted.  My art lessons will give your Gifted child the skills that they need to develop their artistic palette.

HORSES, of Course!

This has to be one of my favorite classes – as it was one I developed in my early teaching years spawned from my absolute love of horses, and the mentoring of my late AP Art Instructor, Adam Salvo.  We were collaborating on courses I could teach and it was a unanimous “Horses, of course!” moment!

Horses, of Course! is a class for all of your horse-crazy young artists of any skill! We draw, paint and talk horse-talk!  Lessons include anatomy, bone structure, composition, and simple directions on drawing one of the most complicated (and gorgeous) creatures.

The structure of this class works well if we change the subject matter too – so if you have a dog lover, or cat lover, a course on “Loving Cats, or Loving Dogs” could also be done.  Thanks!

Drawing Your Portrait!

Learn how to draw a Portrait! In this class Youth participants will gain basic skills in creating a self-portrait. Lessons will cover proportions, measurements, eyes, nose, mouth and hair as well as pencil techniques and tips. Working with mirrors, students will be guided through the portrait process in a caring and calm environment. Brief demonstrative sketches by CSOPA & AE instructor, ShawnaLee Kwashnak, will highlight challenges as they arise and each participant will be guided according to his or her ability and level of accomplishment.
